Travel Concierge
My name's Yoko and I'm the host of Mani-mani. I was born and raised in Kyoto, but have been a tourism professional for over 15 years which allowed me to travel all over the world. To date, I have visited more than 70 countries, and this experience has given me a truly global perspective on life.
I am honored to be a Kyoto resident and it is my great joy and privilege to be an ambassador and introduce the world to this amazing city. It's exciting for me to share local information so you can come to know the real Kyoto. One of the most fulfilling parts of having guests is that I have the opportunity to help others discover a hidden side to this ancient city and fall in love with it, too.
As part of your stay at Mani-mani I'm happy to offer expert trip advice for Kyoto or for day trips to neighboring cities, or special locations throughout Japan.

" Welcome to the Neighborhood ! "
Mani-Mani is situated in a charming, quiet, local neighborhood and is a 2 minutes walk from the "Hakubaicho Tenmangu" Geisha district.
We're surrounded by restaurants, temples, small bars and shops, such as butchers, florists, veg. markets, fish mongers etc. as well as more specialist shops such as those making handmade sweets, tofu and pickles (a speciality of Kyoto). There's also a supermarket and a number of excellent bakeries in the area, as well as the famous "Yokai Street" or "Monster Street" named after an old Kyoto story from the 8th century. Within walking distance of the house are several of the most important historical sites in Japan, including the Temple of the Golden Pavilion "Kinkakuji", the shinto shrine "Kitano-Tenmangū" (with its incredible flea market on the 25th of every month), the dry stone zen garden at "Ryoan-ji temple", and "Daitokuji" known for the largest tea ceremony event in Japan. The nearest bus stop is only 2 mins away, so you're connected to all of Kyoto's attractions, new and old. |
