Arriving in Kyoto

How to find us
Whether you arrive by plane or train, we hope to make your journey to Mani-mani as smooth as possible.

We have prepared some simple instructions to follow, either from Osaka airport or Kyoto station, including directions by train for Japanese Rail pass holders, directions by bus, or a helpful set of instructions for your taxi driver in Japanese.

Arriving at Kyoto Station
Japanese National Rail (JR) and Shinkansen (Bullet train)
● If you arrive in Kyoto in the morning and would like to look around before coming to the guest house, we recommend leaving your luggage at the coin lockers in Kyoto Station and visiting Higashi-Honganji Temple first, the largest wooden structure in Kyoto. (10-15 min walk north from the station)

There are many restaurants located inside Kyoto station, as well as a large department store and viewing terraces on top of the station. Kansai Tourist information center is also located just outside Kyoto station, under Kyoto tower.

●If you’d prefer to come to B&C Mani-mani directly, transfer to Saga-line train on platform 31-32 at Kyoto station and travel to "Enmachi station" (円町駅), which is 4 stops by local train or 2 stops on the express train from Kyoto station (just 10 mins).

You also have the option of taking a direct city bus from the bus terminal directly outside Kyoto station. It takes 30-40min direct to "Kitano-Hakubaicho" stop and costs 230 Yen cash or charged transportation card (IC card):

Bus 50, 101 (express) Bus terminal B2
Bus 205 Bus terminal B3
Bus 26 Bus terminal B4

Arriving at Kansai International Airport

● If you have a Japan Rail Pass:

Please take the airport express Haruka train from Kansai airport to Kyoto station (approx. 75 mins).
Travel information, maps and timetables are available in English here: Kansai International Airport Travel Information

Once you get to Kyoto station transfer to a  Saga-line train on platform 31 or 32 at Kyoto station and travel to "Enmachi station", which is 4 stops by local train or 2 stops on the express train from Kyoto station (just 10 mins).

● If you don’t have a Japan Rail Pass:

We recommend taking the MK taxi "Skygate shuttle" service, which is excellent value for money.
The taxi should be booked before you arrive in Japan, and easy to follow instructions in English can be found on their home page here: MK Taxi Skygate shuttle

What Our Guests Are Saying

"  An unforgettable experience! Yoko made me feel so welcome to her lovely modern-style house. She communicated really well leading up to our stay and was there to greet me personally.

Yoko provided for me all of the basic necessities and so much more. She went above and beyond to help me secure reservations and helped me create the ideal itinerary for each day I was staying at her home...

I LOVED my stay at Yoko's house and would love to stay there again when I return one day. Would highly recommend to anyone Thank you Yoko for your warm and friendly welcome and for providing me with such a comfortable base in Kyoto. I loved it !  "       Lisa, Nov. 2015
